Reefback DE-07k Voidheart Expedition Log#3 (On the current Thargoid threat and what we must do!)
09 Aug 2022(Baron) Rigel Kynse
I was passing into the Norma Arm when I got word on what happened. Till now I have stayed silent on the subject of the Thargoids and our war against them. Mostly because my opinion is contrary to all of my superiors and colleges, and contrary to humanity at large. Now however I cannot help but speak my mind. Part of the reason I went on this expedition at this time was to leave the bubble while humanity repeated the mistakes of the past. About a century and a half ago we built a weapon that scared away the Thargoids(the mycoid bioweapon). We believed we committed xenocide. Yet the Thargoids returned, we were prepared to destroy them again, the protheus wave was our best hope to do so. I could no bear to see a race of beings destroyed like this, so I left. Now we have failed and undoubtedly stirred a hornets nest. Is this what the last days of the Guardians looked like? Did they too go too far? Did they even look for a peaceful solution? Is that why they are gone? Is this why humanity will become extinct?I think it is time to seriously look for a peaceful solution to the Thargoid threat. They may be dangerous but are they actually impossible to communicate with? Let our failing in destroyeing them now not lead to another xenocide (like the Mudlarks) but lead to a chance to find peace with another species of spacefarers. While most may fear this moment, I think it is one of relief and excitement.
