Our Galaxy is Broken

... and I revel in it. https://www.elitedangerous.com/news/galnet/criminal-forces-crushed-gliese-868
As I'm about to Boy Howdy my way down to Gliese 868 to collect, I have some thoughts. I've always enjoyed collecting bounties in my quest of gathering engineering materials. Also, I'm happy to see the ask-and-response going on in our galaxy. It seems piracy has gotten out of hand and some people needed help. A lot of people responded and I think it's great. It's a quaint community we have in our tiny bubble and I'm glad to be a part of it. I hope the situation in Gliese works out. I wish them all the best.
A deeply principled man once explained this to me. When a system is easily abused, if introduced to the public, that system deserves all the abuse it receives. These are words to live by.
I signed up for the community project in Gliese, and then carried on about my regular vocations. This week it was elsewhere in the bubble however. It was in LTT 4487 to the tune of about 30m/cr of bounty vouchers. I have half a dozen modules which need engineering and a pilot on staff who needs time at the CNB. I mean, I've parked Niles City [V5Q-GXZ] at the CNB for this purpose. Did I really need to go all the way down there to kill their pirates? It doesn't say so in the terms, eh.
I don't feel bad about taking their credits. I was making the bubble a safer place, just not in their neighborhood. Some day, my travels might bring me back to Gliese. If it does, there's a good chance I'll be doing my part, without the extra pay. Until then, it's been a pleasure doing business with y'all.
