Life is continuously unexpected

A lot has happened since I last wrote but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't back on my bullshit. Wake up where ever I collapsed the previous night and did whatever pleased me that day. For a bit that was cleaning up mining sites in planetary rings. You haven't lived until you've killed a pirate by ramming them with a doorstop the size of an office building. And my Corvette is continuing to prove to be a very powerful warship. I currently have her in port at Barnard's Star - surprised I haven't seen more Federal Agents. No matter. I've actually been spending time with Leo, a lot of time. Long nights on comms or relaxing in a nebula. I see enough of Pleiades I hardly notice it anymore. We decided to go see a nebula I've been meaning to look at for some time, I took out the Zoran and Leo surprised me when he dropped from orbital flight in a Delacy Anaconda - The FNS Athena. Funny thing I forgot about Zorgon Peterson ships is you have to manually align the INS when you head planetside, and a hefty portion of foreshadowing too! Anyway, my plan was to find a steep mountain and run some canyons but a really funny thing about flying with an inaccurate INS, your airspeed indicator and altimeter aren't reliable. And I knew this, I just didn't think it'd be an issue - and I was wrong.

Still getting the hang of the Mamba, Its very fast and has a wonky center of gravity, plus the tenuous atmosphere I was flying through. Anyway, I misjudged a cliff edge and may or may not have slammed into the ground going 600-odd meters per second. I don't remember a lot of it, I was knocked unconscious the second I hit the ground and awoke a few hours later in the Athena's infirmary. For slamming into the sand of an alien world at 600 meters per second I'm remarkably healthy. Concussion and a few scrapes, though I fucked up my leg pretty bad. I awoke to Leo at my bedside and found my leg in a splint and within a day I was back to better - Gods bless modern medicine. After I could walk again Leo took me back to Robigo and I relaxed for the rest of the week at my apartment, And I've had a lot of time to think. I've started catching feelings - against my better judgement, against every fiber of my being screaming at me to run, to hide and never come out. Every night I've said I'm getting too close to these people, getting too close to Leo. I feel I'm at a boiling point. Life is too short to be spent alone.

While healing at Hauser's I got a ping from Commander Yeetington! Turns out he went to Beagle Point - the farthest star system from Sol - and didn't say anything. But when he returned all of Zefiro-3 got together and killed some bugs in Asterope. We started with the usual, slapping around some Cyclops interceptors and made it like clock work. After about 5 kills we hit a signal that initially we thought were just Thargoid scouts. Smaller class crafts that aren't worth our time until I had a Frameshift signal come up. Before I knew it we had a Hydra Class Interceptor slip in, a truly magnificent creature. Instead of the smooth curves of a Cyclops - Hydras are larger, blindingly green and have razor sharp petals that look like they could bisect a Corvette Attack Ship. Not to mention the Thargon swarm size is roughly four times that of a Cyclops. And I shouldn't have to say that the Hydra isn't messing around when it comes to its offensive capabilities. He caught me off guard and blew out my canopy with one pass. I was lucky to escape. We all were, no one was injured and we made it back to Copernicus for repairs. Yeetington had 'matters' he called them to attend to so Leo and I decided to get a few more in for the day. We dropped on a Cyclops signal to find an interceptor lounging among a debris cloud. As we got closer we could see what we thought was a Cyclops was in-fact a Basilisk - the second in a four part growth cycle of a Thargoid Interceptor. They're faster, meaner, larger swarm size - literally almost like a difficulty tweak if this were a video game. My first instinct was to run, Basilisks are too much at the moment, I'm not skilled enough to face one yet. And at first we thought it was sleeping, or resting or whatever it is they do when they aren't killing people. Then it lit up and shrieked louder than anything I've heard, so loud it shook my Chieftain. And I don't know about you, but seeing a 200 meter flower from outer space come so close I can almost make out what's inside - and it sure as shit can see Me. Its pretty spooky. Leo made the decision to try and fight it, I thought as long as we're being smart about it we can escape if we need to, no harm done. So we started, after getting a composite scan we opened up. I immediately noticed this one took a lot more punishment before exerting, but we got there. After the heart exerted I targeted it and eventually pacified it - stopping his restoration. Fast forward to the third heart pacification Leo had taken a beating. My Aniketos is built to avoid the Interceptor's wrath but Leo is kitted out to be a shield slugger. So where I avoid damage, he takes it up front - and the Basilisk deals a lot of damage. Leo needed to run or risk taking critical damage and I couldn't take it on myself so we low waked back to Copernicus and called it a day.

I got to my pad, handed the Aniketos over to my dockmaster Gee and boarded my Miso Udon - finally finished with repairs from Sagittarius A*. And then I invited Leo to come back to Hauser's with me and he said yes to my surprise. My Miso Udon has a better range due to it being built as a Jumper while the Athena is a thoroughbred war ship so naturally I arrived first. When I got to the pad I (very quickly) changed out of my flightsuit and into a grey pullover jumper and some black shorts. A few weeks ago I decided to finally start taking care of my apartment so It was actually presentable when he came in. Leo was wearing faded blue buttoned t-shirt with a pair of sweatpants. I offered him a drink which he declined and I thought it'd probably be inappropriate to drink myself. So we both opted for some water and I flopped down on the couch, it'd been a very busy day. Leo and I must've spent a hour just talking about different shit, politics mainly as he told me he got out of the Federal Navy which I understood. The recent 'rebellions' if you can even call it that have really opened alot of peoples eyes into exactly how shitty Sol can be. we talked a little about tactics and life in general and eventually someone started a movie. I will remain as civilized and proper as I can with this but eventually after sharing the couch for a time we moved to my bedroom. and I'm sure you understand what happened next.

So yea. He's out getting breakfast and I've been sat in bed for almost an hour writing. The past few days have gone by real fast. But I'm actually looking forward to what comes next for once.
