The Million Light Year Milestone

26 Oct 2019Rampant Haggis
Journal entry for October 26th, 3305.

I made it. One million light years. I thought it would feel different than it did.

A build-up of excitement as the countdown progressed, just as it has a few thousand times before. Witchspace looked more beautiful than ever..I still peer out and try to interpret the shapes I see flying around, the pattern of the destination stars coming into to focus, and the wraithlike structures that seem to fly by the window, taunting me with mysteries I may never understand.

The sudden rush as we emerge from witchspace, senses heightened in case of any miscalculation (we've all done it), but in this case there were no errant masses in the way, and we cruised in for a nice scoop.

One Million Light Years. I wanted to make it special. I thought about returning to Neto with the final jump, but the call to the black was strong...and it won out. So - One Million Light Years. Now I find myself in orbit of a small rare O type star in the Eskimo Nebula. I'd seen one up close near the Formidine Rift, but never one so close to the bubble. It's pale purple and white light makes the Clear Air Turbulence look like a young princess again, instead of the old crone she really is. I'm amazed she made it this far, but it's amazing what the mechanics at Ising Vision can do.

I wonder what the next Million will hold?
Do you like it?
