Commander's Log, 11th of January, 3308.
Alright, so, after our stop at Rekohu Project and a brief R&R break at the Bowman-class science vessel, we're back on our way. Today, our journey should take us about six thousand lightyears. I have to say, it was particularly hard to drag Ariel away from the science vessel - it's just been so long since she's had any contact with any other like-minded people. Cyd had to remind her that we had a schedule to keep and a goal to pursue, and after a brief argument, she relented, and so, we're on our way.

We're a few jumps in now, and Ms. Meridian has already made some staggering discoveries. We jumped into this one system, and she couldn't believe what she was seeing: a binary M-L star cluster, but so close together that it completely breaks the Roche limit. Thankfully, Cyd was ready for something like this down in Engineering. I don't know what we would've done if we got caught in a gravity well like that. That could've spelled our end.

Looks like Ms. Meridian is having a great day today. After preliminary scans in Plaa Ain OH-M, she got up from her station to show me the data, and I didn't believe my eyes. She'd picked up more than twenty different biological signals, with some not matching our records of known plants. So, as of writing this, we've touched down on planet 2A, and Ariel's out scanning to her heart's content. I just hope these rare plants are something valuable; the Pilot's Federation is strict when it comes to rank in this...

Due to engine failure above the planet, we crashlanded on the planet. Wiz Cyd took a look at it after Dr. Zhou made sure everyone was okay, and he concluded that flying past two Roche-limit-breaking gravity wells pulled at our engine, causing far more damage than initially anticipated. Thankfully, after pulling some strings with the Pilot's Federation, a flight of particularly disgruntled Rescue Rangers was dispatched to get us. Their flight commander, Commander A. Rich, remarked that they too were out on a sightseeing tour, and that they were not happy about having to turn back to the Eagle sector. I told him that I wasn't exactly happy about it either. This has been a major setback to the expedition. It has, however, allowed me to take up contact with the good folks over at Universal Cartographics. They recommend - and I concur - that I take a quicker route to Sidewinder's Song. We've already lost precious time on this expedition sightseeing, and now I really must get going to where I need to be. I can't miss another mass jump, after all. They're great times to catch up with other crews aboard the Lunar Hyperlight, assuming the ale and cookies haven't mysteriously disappeared from the Deck C bar again.
Time to get jumping.

I don't think I've ever seen Ms. Meridian so excited. Our previous record, from only an hour ago, was broken - no, shattered, by the system we just jumped into. 52 biological signals, each and every one unmapped. Vista Genomics pays richly for those, so I'm happy too. I just hope this doesn't result in another... incident. Cyd's fixed our engine up no problem, I'm just gonna have to hope she holds together. We have time for maintenance when we get to the Lunar Hyperlight, it's just a question of getting there now. We're 150 jumps out, but I reckon we're going to have a few hours delay due to this system alone. I should also note that we encountered another Roche-limit breaking system on our way - this time we actually managed to grab some photos for Universal Cartographics that prove it.

After six hours of letting Ms. Meridian scan this system, we've decided to move on for now. We cannot get to Sidewinder's Song without actually jumping, and we can always come back for the plants. This has soured the biologist's mood significantly, especially after Dr. Zhou jokingly hinted at her starting a little garden down in the cargo hold over dinner. With tensions at an all-time high, all crew members are currently hanging around in their quarters. I need to get back to piloting the ship now, but I will still report in if/when we find anything interesting. Speaking of - I think that's a water world I see in the distance. Time to hop to it.
23:45
So, we're around 135 jumps out from the waypoint now. We've hit one system with a lot of valuable planets - three water worlds and four terraformable high metal content worlds. According to my calculations, that's worth about eight to ten million credits. It also means that this should be a good place to rest for a bit. I'm gonna go lock up the pilot cabin now, and see what the others are up to. Hopefully they've all made up by now, otherwise that's gonna be a headache for the coming couple of days...
