Ruminations on the Void

“And there will be strange signs in the sun, moon, and stars. And here on earth the nations will be in turmoil, perplexed by the roaring seas and strange tides. People will be terrified at what they see coming upon the earth, for the powers in the heavens will be shaken.”
-Luke 21:25-26 NLT

Since joining the Order of Enblackenment I have always been skeptical of their theology (or perhaps scared). Either way the essence of my misconception is that my brothers and sisters worship the void as a literal god. As a Christian and a believer in the God of Abraham (Yahweh) this of course created a whirlwind of conflict within my conscience. I have always believed in the Order’s overall mission of peace and believe it to be an overall altruistic institution but my spirit has never been at peace with worship of the void.

As I transcribe this log, sitting just beyond the event horizon of Sagittarius A, I believe that I have discerned some truth about the universe that I now wish to share. The Void is not an entity in and of itself but rather it is a driving force behind this universe that God has created. Therefore, it can be surmised that the void is an extension of God’s will.

But the day of the Lord will come as unexpectedly as a thief. Then the heavens will pass away with a terrible noise, and the very elements themselves will disappear in fire, and the earth and everything on it will be found to deserve judgement.
-2 Peter 3:10

For believers in God, the destruction of the universe is promised. This phenomena has been predicted by scientist and thusly named the “Heat Death’ of the universe. This scientific theory runs parallel to Christian scripture. This supports Christian doctrine while also cementing the Order’s doctrine that the great Heat Death of the universe is something that should not be rejected but embraced.

In the book of Revelations we see a promise that Satan (the great spiritual enemy of humanity) will be cast into a great bottomless pit. While I am wary of dealing in absolute conclusions about anything that is philosophical in nature, I find the imagery of this passage compelling in regards to theories on the void’s nature. A black hole could easily be described as a “great bottomless pit.” As such, we see what is potentially a black hole as a mechanism in the salvation of humanity. A mechanism that will be instrumental in the defeat of our aforementioned great spiritual enemy.
