Log Book #6 - Governor of Dalagritu

Never in my life I imagined governing a whole faction yet alone colonies, especially considering my background as a criminal to the empire. But the people around here were nice, friendly and very welcoming. Our first impression was obviously not the best, but for the people our intentions were what mattered to them.

The Unionists never expected their people to turn against them. It wasn't really part our plans either. But the courage of many of our top tier commanders and how we've driven out the Zealots out of their system what made them vote for us. Then came our biggest issue. Nobody was really fit to govern a faction. So it was out of a raffle that I was chosen to govern Dalagritu with a year term. A temporary solution until someone fit to govern would come.

Lack of basic supplies, countless tons of toxic waste, pirates lurking every corner of the system were a few issues that immediately came into my list of work. I was honestly surprised the place was holding up like it was! And so my year term started with making sure the people were kept safe and sound and well fed. It was quite a challenge so to say.

The pirates was what concerned me the most. Security was obviously lacking. Some of our commanders offered assistance in keeping most if not all at bay from the stations. It wasn't long until the pirates overwhelmed our little force. So a deal was struct with their pirate leader to give them Davidson Hub, the farthest station of Dalagritu. It was for the best interest of everyone.

And so months passed. Things finally took shape, our people were now at peace. A few fights broke out here and there, but nothing major. The last week of my term was probably the saddest. People sent out mail asking me to take the next 4 years term. Old ladies and men would come knocking at my work office begging for me to stay. There was even gifts left out at the door of my sleeping quarters. All of them would never understand the love I had. The love... of the void. I missed it so much.

On the last day. I gave out a public speech as a farewell. It was underwhelming, probably because I wasn't really the best around the public. The people cheered. Someone else would take my place and I was free to reach out for the stars once again.

So I sat down in the cockpit of my dear old mamba; the Albinobadger. And I cried.
