Log Book #7 - The Far Gods

The Proteus Wave incident was where it all began, my life goal shifted in a direction I never knew would. I remember that day like it was yesterday. I was leaving Dalagritu, a week after my year term ended as being the governor of Dalagritu. I accepted simple tasks for Quimper Gateway, like hauling tons of minerals to other systems not too far from Dalagritu, delivering important data to other outposts and what not. It was a rather... quiet day. There was chatter about some kind of weapon being prepared to fired over the radio, something about aliens and what not. I never really gave a care, but listening to it was entertaining.
That day, I was sort of late and was rather in a hurry. Just to clear things out before I get laughed at. I usually make my coffee before leaving the station. I've heard many stories about commanders getting their sweet nectar during flight only to end up spilling it all over their suits! (Coffee stains are not suit friendly!) So as you guessed, I was in the middle of flight when I decided I wanted a nice fresh cup of coffee! So I got off my pilot seat, flying in supercruise. The auto pilot was on during that time. So I started to make my sweet sweet favorite brew when suddenly - a loud crash send my ship flying in every possible direction. A pirate by the name of Zimrich was trying to pull my ship over through an interdictor.
I struggled to get to my controls, coffee spilling everywhere in the cabin. I was thrown around back and forth in the cabin, hurting my back in the process. My ship immediately submitted to Zimrich, throttle stopping at zero. I was on the ground, slowly trying to get up when my ship starting creaking and cracking by the sound of bullets shredding its hull. I had a few options, attempt to run at the controls with in mind that my FSD was cooling down. Or take an emergency escape pod which was just a few steps away from where I stood. I went for neither of those choices. The canopy of my poor Python was cracking in front of me. I braced myself.
For those who don't know, ship cabins are pressurized and anything that is not magnetically locked to the ship will fly out of the canopy. I was an idiot and forgot my trusty pair of magnetic boots if you were wondering. And so, even after bracing myself, I flew outside of the ship as my canopy broke. That's the last thing I remembered from this encounter. I woke up a couple of hours later to something quite different.
In a medical bay, out in the middle of I don't know where. A coffee stained suit was hung right next to the bed I was resting in. Doctors and nurses were looking at a screen, shocked and in terror. The Proteus Wave back fired and destroyed everything in HIP 22460. There was news of survivors, telling everyone to keep out of that darn system as most of the technological anti-xeno weaponry and armor were rendered useless. When a nurse finally turned around and saw I was finally awake, she came right next to me and handed me an 'ol piece of paper. I mean, who in the world still uses a piece of paper in the 3000?
Looking at what was written down on the paper was just a name of a commander. Wil4me. Was he the one who rescued me when I was cast in the void? I thought so. And so weeks passed and my recovery was rather slow. News kept on talking about the Thargoids and some Xeno-lovers duking it out. There as also a leak about a strange entity that people named, the far gods. I was leaving the medical facility when this individual, dressed up as some kind of space cowboy was waiting for me.
He introduced himself as the "Guy whose name is on the paper" and told me he was the one who rescued me from the clenches of the void. He asked me how much I wanted to protect my home. And I looked at him strangely, wondering what he meant by it. He then proceeded to explain to me that the "Far Gods" were possibly an armada of Thargoids coming for us after the whole HIP 22460 incident and asked me if I was interested in researching Xeno-hunting and engineering a ship. That's where it dawned on me - Dalagritu would be in the front line if there was an armada of space alien bugs attacking the bubble.
And so, I went with Wil4me in an expedition far away from the bubble to gather up materials to build a ship. A ship that I would later name, the AX-Voidling.
