Commander's Log: 23 September, 3302: Having Multi-Crew Still Doesn't Beat Multi-Cannons

Commander’s logIt has been an eventful week. A few days ago I helped a system’s security force ambush a slave convoy. We were successful, but the next thing I knew I found myself the captain of a crew. Currently there are only two others, one a former slave and cyborg, the other an assassin. One hardly ever speaks, and is like the equivalent of talking to the ship AI, while the other is obnoxious and foul tongued. Honestly I’m not sure how long it’ll be before I go mad.
"The likely-hood of you going mad from interacting with Nick and I is... seven percent."
"Did you factor my reaction to what you just said into it?"
"... Eight percent."
"..."
Aside from that, I have been slowly increasing my overall credits as I plan my next step. Rumor is some of the Pilot Federation’s most trusted commanders are getting access to a few new license updates: the ability to launch small scale fighters from hangar bays, and the ability to transport passengers from place to place. It must have taken quite some time for the Pilot’s Federation to finally convince government authorities to trust pilots with such things. Either way I am quite excited for when the license update is released for all pilots, including myself.
A friend of mine has finally managed to graduate and earn his pilot’s license. He never actually told me what his name was, but everyone always referred to him as the Indecisive Newt. I guess it’s Cmdr Indecisive Newt now. Hopefully I’ll run into him sometime.
There’s still no new information regarding the strange crash site. I guess I should be happy, as breaking news often means bad news. Considering how tense the situation is between the Federation and the Empire, I’m not sure humanity could handle a first contact scenario right now.
It would be a lie to say that I didn’t hope to be the witness to such an event, but I know the chances are almost none. I’m a bounty hunter, not an explorer. Still, a man can dream, can’t he?
