Commander's Log: 5 October, 3302: Plans for the Future

I have made a decision I never thought I would make. It is a decision that even now I am unsure about as I count my credits to see how much longer until this decision can come to fruition. I am sure many a commander can understand my uncertainty when I say this.I have chosen to buy an Orca.
With the Pilot’s Federation preparing to update our licences to allow us to ferry a variety of people from place to place, the passenger ships have finally been given a purpose within the fleet of the common commander. With that being said, I am not far enough in my career to afford the behemoth that is the Beluga. Therefore I must settle for an Orca. It will be an interesting change for me, taking a break from the bounty hunting world to carry people from place to place. I’ve heard other commanders consider it a waste of time, but I think I will find it most enjoyable.
The reason I find myself unsure, however, lies in the credits. I have plenty to afford the ship itself, but after seeing other commanders go bankrupt and having to start over in a loaned sidewinder I refuse to fly anywhere without sufficient credits to get me out of trouble. With that being said, I have decided that now is the time to part ways with the Ballista. She is a fine ship and I may one day have a change of heart and buy another, but right now I consider it best to take back the credits I put into the ship. I am reluctant, but this is probably better than just staying stubborn, only to have the poor ship collect dust in the hangar bay.
Naturally I do not intend to sell her off immediately. That would be too much. In a couple of days I will take her out for one last flight, going all out and not holding anything back. I want to take out as many pirates as I can before the end, and keep fighting until she has no more fight left in her. Only then will I be able to finally part ways.
