CMDR's log - Stuck in space - #02-0005

- 21.5.3307. -I don't even know how to start writing this log, because I'm at a breaking point due to problems me and CMDR Nyx Vetra encountered.
- A contract was signed between CMDR Nyx Vetra and The Tritium Depot, a company in charge of buying and hauling Tritium to clients who requested their service. Of course, the CMDR is a valuable asset and it would be a shame to lose her, so I decided to observe the situation. I looked into this company and I was, honestly, impressed. I met the crew, talked to the leader, learned how they operate and how well organized they really are. And the amount of clients they cover on a daily basis? We're talking about tens of thousands of tons of Tritium every 24-hour cycle. I'm not that easily impressed by such things, but these guys do their very best to do the job efficiently and correctly. While my DSSA duties are being taken care of by my crew and hired pilots regarding logistics, I thought about joining Nyx Vetra on her trips around the Milky Way. In order to stay with her, I had to join The Tritium Depot, however, I'm only here to be at her side when certain issues start to appear on the surface. I grabbed my Imperial Cutter for hauling Tritium and decided to serve her as a helping hand. I started to teach her some navigation tricks and provide her with some tips on how to be more fuel efficient when doing supply runs from The Bubble to Colonia and back. She appreciates having me around very much and I'm happy I can help her in any way possible. We already did 2 tours together with her fleet carrier 'The Tritium Depot 5' , however, I still like to call it 'Tritium Supplier' .
- In the last log, I talked about that defence contract and upgrades. If anyone's reading this, remember those Vultures and Condors I mentioned? The FC hauling those modified beauties is currently taking a small break, but has covered 75% of the trip already. Regular integrity, ship hull and FSD maintenance checks are being done aboard the FC to prevent any FSD telemetry errors or hull breaches that could cause serious problems. The CMDR in charge of this FC says it's all done by the rulebook. I don't blame him, because he's right. He's doing it the easy way, step by step, so all the ship parts and cargo that is being transported are safe and intact when they reach its destination. I'm fine with that and I got nothing else to add. Better safe than sorry.
- However, we could learn a thing or two from this CMDR I was talking about. As of time of writing this, CMDR Nyx Vetra, her fleet carrier crew and I encountered a serious issue 3 days ago. Due to some... unforeseen problems, we were forced to pause our trip, 15kLYs away from The Bubble. Somehow, our fleet carrier FSD started acting weird and on the last jump, it broke. The maintenance crew in charge of it talked with us and informed us that they do check the FSD every 3-4 jumps. On the last jump, they noticed abnormal readings from the FSD right before the process of charging it, however, they said it was sometimes normal to see these readings, so they decided to take a better look at it, before the charging process. You see, the FSD has its own rules and procedures on how it is supposed to work, like a program which executes steps, speaking in a simple way. The previous jump that was successful was the time where the FSD started to malfunction under the radar. The fleet carrier FSD did not follow in the right steps it was supposed to, meaning that the first two procedures it was supposed to follow were executed one after another, without a proper cooldown in between. Sure, there is a 15 minute preparation with the time given, split into timestamps where each procedure executes, however, everything was perfectly timed on that part. In the first 3 minutes of the cooldown, the 1st timestamp is at 1:15 with 2nd starting at 2:35. By the readings the maintenance crew provided me with, we saw that the 1st timestamp of the cooldown was not executed at the right time, yet it executed itself at 1:07 with 2nd starting at 1:53. Even to me, that didn't look good after reading the report. The FSD did not have proper timestamps during cooldown, which executed procedures earlier and in short amount of time, as stated above. To make matters worse, it's not a problem if this happened during the preparation time which takes 15 minutes. It would be marked as a telemetry issue. No big deal. But this was something else and we were very lucky to remain intact, without an explosion happening in or around the FSD module. Luck was on our side. The maintenance crew cut the power to the FSD and started to disassemble it completely and assemble it piece by piece, trying to remove the damages and bring it back in working order. Now, we are stuck here, salvaging our personal ship FSD modules to fix the fleet carrier FSD module. Thankfully, we have all the parts we need to fix it, but it will take couple of hours or days to get it running again. This time, we'll make sure to have everything working like it needs to.
I just couldn't stand being in one place, so I decided to land on a nearby planet and explore for a bit. It was getting too crowded on the FC anyway. Here's a picture of me admiring the view.
And here's another with my ship in the background. Soon to be replaced with the upcoming Panther Clipper XL!
That's all for now. GalNet is already filled with photos such as the ones you're looking at, so... I won't be posting anything more. Too much spam.
CMDR V4KY out.
