Press Release: Re-Settlement Plan Proposed to Ken'Tarii Papal Commission - Federation Refugees Finally Granted Asylum

In a narrow vote this morning, Arch-Bishop Teegan Perry's administration decided to grant full citizenship and asylum to refugees from both Federal and Imperial space. Many conservative members of the governing clergy declared the move to be an affront to civil order and an egregious step in the wrong direction from sanity. Some of the more moderate voting members of the commission argued that the change is untimely, citing the powerplay-related conflict between The Imperium and Federal Liberal Command has recently escalated in severity due to the Federation's growing frustration leading to more direct attacks on civilian targets and infrastructure.More progressive members of the Mandate's government, however, believe that the refugees should not be held liable for the decisions which resulted in them arriving in Ken'Tarii homespace. "The war against the Thargoids and the collateral damage it has caused is unprecedented," stated Commissioner Jack Finch. "Are we really going to hold these people accountable for the fact that their home was invaded and they were sent away against their will?"
The Arch-Marshal gave their opinion, concerning the position that the Imperium is taking compared to the Mandate on the developments. In an interview, CMDR Antraeon stated, "I think both Arch-Bishop Perry and Commissioner Finch are satisfied with the outcome. Our fight is with their soldiers, not their people - And if we want them to eventually become OUR people we need to recognize that distinction sooner than later."
