A Tour of Nebulae
24 Nov 2016Robert Phillips
After an uneventful trip back to Jaques from the galactic core (12,000 LY in 2.5 hrs - thanks Neutron Stars!), and a quick visit to Colonia 3 C A to see the fungal life that was found there, I found myself getting itchy feet and looking to take advantage of my close proximity to the many nebulae in the 1000 or so LY around Colonia. This portion of space also has a high density of stellar remnants (Neutron stars, black holes, and white dwarfs), so this was an opportunity to hopefully see some unique sights, and make a few first discoveries.
First, there's a pair of Dryooe Prou nebulae around 1000 LY from Jaques, which provide some beautiful sights:
And some interesting celestial star formations:
And then, heading south-west of the Jaques I came to the Mylaifaa sector:
The Oephaif nebulae:
Including this quaternary star system at Oephaif QE-Q e5-43:
And the Dryaea Flee Nebula (and surrounding sector):
All this exploration netted me enough experience to gain the rank of Pioneer.
Maybe now is a good time to head back towards the bubble. I see some interesting nebulae there, and I also want to try and fine the biggest Supergiant star in our galaxy...
