LOG - 002
________
I stepped backward and back onto the cargo ramp of the Pioneer. I wasn’t about to go venturing out there, but I was lost. I don’t remember how I made it here, to this planet, but all I know is I remember this raging storm, faintly.
The back of the Pioneer, my disheveled Diamondback Explorer, was my home. I was an explorer, after all, it was what I did. The cargo racks were lined with trinkets of different sizes and sorts, some covered in dust as if they’d been buried for a century or more, others looked factory new, but none the same. The overhead lights that I strung up seemed to pulsate, likely the strong electrical surges this planet’s storm produced. The floor had a sort of filth that couldn’t wash off, dust that had been stomped on so many times that it became one with the metal.
I was as much of an explorer as I was a collector. I had no fear of venturing into crashed and derelict ships while exploring to collect anything I found interesting. Some may even call me a hoarder. I enjoyed it though, every artifact seemed to have a memory connected to it, and every memory seemed to take me to a different place, a place where I can find a new item, a new memory…
This was my life, and I can’t remember much before the ‘’Incident’’ that seemed to take me on loops. All I remember was taking a Neutron star and supercharging my Frame Shift Drive, engaging warp… and then nothing.
The next thing I know I am passed out on my chair in the middle of an icy field, the Pioneer was frozen to the ground. I don’t remember how I got there, but I had that same strange feeling… like I was there before.
Now I search for my real home, I don’t know where it is and I don’t even know if I’ll remember it when I find it, but I hope to god some day I will.
I slammed my fist hard on the ramp button, it began closing. I stepped back another step and looked out across the dry desert fields, and right before the ramp closed, I saw a burning streak in the sky, I saw a ship.
