It was time to upgrade. My old Python was a fantastic ship, but she had reached the end of her life span, sadly. I'll miss her dearly, but, because of how well I've looked after her, the ship dealer gave me a fantastic trade in price for the new 'Conda.
The upgrade didn't come without cause though. I received word from the Angeli Imperial Enterprise, a group I recently became involved with at the Princess' request, that they had a proposition for me. They had started expanding into Blido Piru, a small Independent system, and were looking for someone to take over the day-to-day running of the project: namely me. It came at quite a good time, as I had just finished up with my previous project for the Foundation. It might be a really good cause, but I've still got to earn a living.
That Cutter ain't going to buy itself after all!
And so, with my shiny new Anaconda, in an Imperial White paint job, I headed to Blido Piru to find a rather backwater system. There are two stations here - one a Coriolis spaceport, where I'll be spending most of my time, and the other a tiny little outpost. Obviously my 'Conda can't land there, so I grabbed myself a second-hand Eagle until I get the Imperial Courier I've requested as a little 'in system' run around.
This place does have potential, though. Despite the fact that the port traffic controller has one of the single most annoying voices I have ever heard (as if I didn't need more incentives), the rest of the station is home to good people. Imperial culture is apparent, but there isn't really any form of government. That will have to change. The AIE have started to earn a decent reputation here, but we're going to have to focus on one station at a time. Ideally, the Kanai Enterprise station would be the first target, but the outpost might be easier to gain control over. It would give us a good staging post for the rest of the operation, but I guess we'll have to see.
For now, it's been a long day of flying around and making sure the Polaris is kitted out as good as she possibly can be. That's caused issues in itself, especially when I suddenly realised that I wouldn't be able to pay the insurance should something happen. Fortunately that was an easy fix, and the insurance on an Eagle is incredibly low so no worries there.
