Personal Log 2: 11th February - 11th April, 3301

Witchspace.

An apt nickname, I thought, as I hurtled through it at unimaginable speed towards Eravate. I had never been so terrified of anything since I was a little girl, when my papa had taken me for a ride on a fairground roller coaster. I had screamed then, begging him to make it stop. Witchspace was infinitely more frightening, with all its dazzling shadows and silent shrieks.

The stomach-turning jolt back into normal space was almost an anti-climax, were it not for the multiple blips of other vessels that suddenly filled my scanner. Eravate was a very busy system. I keyed up the navcom. Ackerman Market sounded as good a destination as any other, and a short while later I had completed my maiden solo flight.

Thus began my new life among the stars. Four months have gone by since then, as I write this in early June 3301. Sadly, records of those first few weeks do not exist; I only learned how to operate my personal log on April 12th, it being one of many things my flying instructor had failed to cover properly. So now I have a two-month gap to fill in from memory.

Jobs delivering scrap brought in much needed credits, taking me to nearby systems like Kini, Frigaha, and Potriti. Trading was less successful, as I found myself forced to sell several purchases at a loss. A chance encounter with a pirate, who was already under attack by Eravate system police, netted me 20,000CR. It also proved I'd need better weapons and combat skills before I could think of a career in bounty hunting.

And, amongst all this, I found a name for my ship. Inspired by the phrase which had driven me on my quest to avenge Bekka's death, I called my Sidewinder 'The Last Thing I Do'. May Gaia be my guide and my guardian.
