Personal Log 6: 4th - 10th May, 3301

4th - 10th May, 3301I spent a full day enjoying the natural beauty of Abukunin A1, getting back to nature by exploring one of its magnificent forests. Such tall trees!
I returned to my ship feeling refreshed, and loaded up with some merlot wine and duravelvet fabric. First port of call was Aphra. I'd been hoping to find a gimballed Beam Laser to give me a little extra "crunch for my cred" as the salesman at Cleve Hub had put it. I was thrilled to find one at Aphra's Beckman Terminal, and had no hesitation in part-exchanging one of my Pulse Lasers.
Rudolphus called me from his exploration of the galactic core. He described some of the amazing things he had seen so far. I felt quite jealous, having only travelled a few dozen light years from home, compared to his thousands!
While carrying wine and marine equipment between two of V1688 Aquilae's starports, a thruster malfunction at Blaylock Enterprise caused me to overshoot the landing pad, clipping the control tower. Luckily no damage was done, though the Pad Controller didn't look too impressed with me, despite me giving him my best winning smile.
Realising that my Federation reputation would not be helped by staying in an independent system, I decided to return to Eravate. My new gimballed Beam Laser was called into action for the first time at Malloc, where I was indicted by a Viper. Despite suffering minor damage to all systems, I destroyed him and claimed a 9,000Cr bounty. Seven subsequent interdictions over the next four days severely tested my skills and my credit balance. I lost two of the battles, won one against an Eagle, and managed to escape the remaining four. One of those four pirates, another Viper, had worn my hull integrity down to 6%. I was fortunate to get away from him in time.

At Calor I had an unbelievable stroke of good luck. I had learned that, in order to gain a Sol permit, I would need to carry out a series of missions for the Federal Navy. My papa would never have approved of such a thing, but I needed the permit if I was to stand a chance of reaching Caz on Earth. Now, on the bulletin board at Papin Terminal, was a Federal Navy mission to bring personal weapons back to the station. Astonishingly, Papin Terminal had a stock of personal weapons available to buy! Accepting the mission, I bought the required amount of weapons, then confirmed the delivery immediately after, and was overjoyed to receive confirmation that I had been accepted by the Navy as a 'Recruit'.
Trading and delivery jobs took me to Obambivas. An overwhelming feeling of homesickness overtook me, so I decided to head towards home and pay a visit to my grandparents Barnes and Rebekka Darrell.
My route took me through LTT 15574. Stopping at Haxel Port to refuel (and to have a Messier Mohito in the station bar), I found another Federal Navy mission on the bulletin board. This involved ferrying performance enhancers to Dirac Enterprise starport in the next system, LFT 1448. I accepted the task, loaded up, and set off. In the LFT 1448 system I was interdicted by Patrick Theysohn in a Cobra. Panic-stricken, and desperate not to fail my mission, I managed to evade the pirate's laser fire long enough to give my FSD time to recharge. I heaved a sigh of relief as I entered supercruise to Dirac Enterprise. Once I had delivered the performance enhancers, a square-jawed Navy officer debriefed me by holofac. "Congratulations, Miss Caesar," he said. "You are hereby promoted to the rank of Cadet."
Two more jumps took me home. Now to visit my grandparents.
