PEGASI AUTUMN - Chapter 5

A delivery. For me. Unprecedented!

Apollonia Purduto looked over her shoulder, making sure that no one was watching. Other than the mindless android that had delivered the package, there wasn’t anyone else on the landing pad. Above her head, ships came and went. It would be the height of paranoia to suppose that any of the people within had the slightest bit of interest in her.

But someone does have an interest, oui?.

With a mixture of apprehension and giddiness, the pale waif opened the composite box to behold the contents within. The sight and smell of an exotic, priceless flower greeted her, a purple and green creation that glowed in the dark and emitted a most pleasing fragrance. The container was specially designed for shipping flora, with an ultraviolet light at the top of and rich, black soil at the bottom. Smiling, she lowered her nose next to an exquisite petal and inhaled. It was a Prophet’s Blossom, a Utopian-grown variety that was designed to interact with a person’s neurochemistry, releasing endorphins and inducing feelings of bliss.

It had been years since she had last been around these plants, not having seen one since she had belonged to Azalea Constantinestu. Her former mistress had decorated both her penthouse in Mukusubii and her loft at the Velvet Club with such flora, and they had been one of the most pleasant parts of Apollonia’s life at the time.

The pale waif smiled as she closed the container. And now I have one of my own.
