The battle for Inara / chapter 1 - Hope

02 May 2024Myht1c
War was raging on in the galaxy… a war that threatened the very fabric of human existence. The Thargoids had returned, a insect like species that humanity has fought years before. Star systems that once thrived with the bustle of trade were now battlegrounds.
The conflict had spread like wildfire, consuming system after system in a relentless tide of destruction. The once-peaceful galaxy, a place of commerce and exploration, had become a theatre of war, with every faction and power scrambling to defend their territories. The Thargoids, with their advanced technology and unfathomable tactics, seemed to be everywhere at once, their ships appearing out of the void to strike without warning.
Humanity’s response was a desperate call to arms. The superpowers of the Federation, Empire, and Alliance, once rivals vying for dominance, now found themselves united against a common foe. Fleets of ships, from nimble fighters to colossal capital ships, were mobilized. Commanders from all walks of life, whether they were traders, explorers, miners, or mercenaries, wanted to kick the Thargoids out of human civilised space.

One of the System taken by the invasion of Thargoids was Inara, the system Inara was a jewel in the galaxy, a hub of knowledge and togetherness where commanders from all walks of life converged. It was a place where the collective wisdom of the galaxy’s inhabitants was shared freely, a testament to the power of knowledge to bring people together.

Now all that was left was abandoned star ports and decollate planets, any human civilisation was left to ruin, withering away as months pass without sign of return from humans.

Commanders have been helping out with the war wherever they can, one such Commander was CMDR Mythic (Spelt M Y H T 1 C) , They were scouting out the system to see what was left and what hostiles where in the area.
Looking over a small ridge to see Aravena Tourism Site in full view, located on planet B 11 a, the site was a nice place to stop of every so often for a relax from the stresses of modern-day life.
Mythic looked over the ridge, through the sniper scope of a Manticore Executioner to see Thargoid Revenants flying about, tiny drones scanning and looking around keeping the area clear.

Mythic sighed in disappointment, he was hoping to see less Thargoids within Inara
Suddenly, His suits personal assistant chimed.
“Frame Shift Anomaly Detected”

Mythic shot up, suddenly filled with adrenaline he looked up to see a black cloud start the tear through the sky, without a second to think, Mythic sprinted back to their ship parked close by to escape the threat before it arrives.

Without a second to lose, Mythic took off from the planet and charged his Frame shift drive, Mythic looked back and saw the thargoid Interceptor immerge menacingly from the cracked black cloud as it dissipated into nothing, the neon green spikes shooting out from the ship told Mythic all the information he needed to know, “Hydra” he said to himself, the toughest of all Interceptor class Thargoid vessels.
“Ready to engage” the ships CORVAS said softly, Mythic moved the throttle forward still looking at the fidget spinner that suddenly appeared, and seconds later, Mythic was out of the system.

With a sigh of relief, Mythic sat back in the ships chair finally starting to relax,
The ship exited which space suddenly thrusting a star into the entirety of Mythics vision, after a second shock and a swift turn, Mythic was finally able to sit down and relax.

Moments later, the ships Coms panel lights up with an incoming call request, with a sigh of disappointment, he picks up the phone to hear his friend shout the words “We did it!”
“You what?” Mythic said confused.
“Titan Taranis is going into overload; we have killed a titan!!!!”
Mythic was silent with confusion and a sense of joy.
“How did you do it?” he said with a very confused tone.
“well, I didn’t do anything I just heard it on the news”
Mythic facepalmed
“that’s wonderful”.
Mythic meant that, but it was said with extreme sarcasm and partly was sarcastic.
“I’m gonna watch it live, I don’t wanna miss this”
Mythic was quiet as his friend disconnected the coms
“This is something I definitely don’t want to miss” Mythic said with excitement
Sending out a message for his group to meet within the maelstrom, Mythic's hopes have never been higher, maybe the battle to take back Inara was closer than he realised.
