First Entry - The Beginning

As I sat in the Apex shuttle's passenger seat, watching the stars slip past, I thought back on the trouble I'd been through this week. From the slew of pirates in Cubeo, to the dock master who refused to let me return the excess cargo onto the pad. I know I should've known better than to lose my temper and dump the cargo. The fines and resulting nightmare of paperwork and forms were more than I'd ever care to repeat.Anyway, an old friend of mine used to keep a journal. Said it helped him relax and decompress. I could use that right now.
I haven't seen him, or any of my old crew since the fall of the Rose. The conflict in Lausang, as the raiders' ships exploded around our small fleet, old memories returned. The bits of debris tumbled out like the shipping containers full of human cargo the Rose had scooped up as its prey fled. Most of the crew had been excited with the score, of course. Who wouldn't be, Imperial Slaves would bring us a large amount of credits. The fear on their faces, those crates...not cabins, but shipping containers. It made me sick. Even knowing they had nothing to fear from us...
Anyway, after the Rose fell, I knew I couldn't sign up with another pirate crew. I applied to the Pilot's federation and never looked back...until tonight...
