Entry 0 - Why does this feel like failure

This journal was supposed to be about my experiences, my thoughts and feelings. Its just numbers. Shipping reports, cold exploration data. Where did I lose my way? When did we move away from a mission of cooperation.The squadron moves towards war against a people we don't even know how to communicate with. The cooperative continues to grow and thrive, but is it better than those they replace? Now Sirius Corp, one time sponsor of the squadron, moves into key positions of power in the Alliance. The Empire blocks open investigation into legitimate concerns.
Who can we-I trust? My doubts make me proud of only one thing, standing up for the systems ready to declare their independence from the strings of higher powers far removed from the concerns of their citizens. The Z project makes me hopeful that a new voice will help bring light, but I worry we'll bring only more blood.
The void calls me, my preparations have taken too long...
