PYMEX reaches checkpoint 1 - California
16 Nov 2016SGopher81
The INS Gopher last night reached it's first way-point on Operation PYMEX when it reached a system in the heart of the California Nebula. Several pictures have been taken showing the Python approaching the nebula for posterity and showing the magnificence of the galaxy at very close range.Up until now exploration has been minimal, with only a few unexplored systems and planets being charted on this first leg. In terms of mining returns have been low as well, with Osmium, Praseodymium, Samarium and Palladium totaling circa 25 tons in the hold. With 94 limpets still in storage by no means is the mining element of this project close to being completed.
However, Commander Stephen Gordon was always aware that the first leg would be charted given the number of explorers that the human race has produced. There is no concern at this stage for the safety of the Gopher and the next jouney is circa 900LY to a group of Oochost-named star systems. This will put the Gopher circa 1,900LY away from it's starting point of HR 783 and at this point we are expecting to discover uncharted systems to fully maximise the exploration returns and hopefully find that mother-lode of mining commodities.
Fly safe Commanders, I won't be back any time soon!
