What to do next?

Almost 700 systems into my exploration tour, we have hit crossroads that lead in a few different directions. After leaving the Bubble nebula with headed out to one of the nearby NGC sectors, but we still have only 1 Earth-Like World to our name and the exploration dream is starting to fade a little.We had planned to explore a few other nebulae before heading home, but our sights now turn to the Outott sector, where we have found our only ELW and was identified as a candidate for an intensive exploration mission on its own. We are circa 3,500 LY from the sector so the trip itself will take time if that's how we go, but no final decision has been made. I'm in need of inspiration!
Thoughts are also turning to home. The HR 783 Imperial Society has lost control of Tlapana and another Imperial faction is spreading its tentacles around the region. I'm the only human commander acting for the Society, so it's a lonely and thankless task apart from personal satisfaction. Do I stick with them and use my exploration data to re-establish the position, or sign up for a player Empire-based faction and get more involved from that angle?
