Finally, while my FSD drive has yet to be upgraded to the extent it could be, I've managed to gather the materials to upgrade them to grade four. It's not the biggest improvement but it's an improvement nonetheless. Felicity came up to me today after she had upgraded the modules I needed and told me that she trusts me enough to help me upgrade my FSD module to a grade five. She told me that's the best she could do and is the best upgrade the module can get for now. Though, she's looking into developing better technology to upgrade it further than that.
Upon further inquiry about the materials I would need to get the final upgrade, Felicity informed me that it would not be so easy. The data required was very rare and may only be found in heavily guarded facilities. I'm up for the task though. I have the physical materials needed, I just lack the encoded data required. I'll have to ask around, Perhaps my new mentor Mr.X could help me locate and acquire the data mentioned. Jumping from system to system and having to defend myself from pirates is costing me quite the pretty penny in terms of refueling, munitions restock, and paying the wedge of my fighter pilot Russell. I don't mind having to pay for his services though. Russell keeps to himself and does his job right. He's gotten me out of more than my fair share of near-death experiences.
I decided to put my newly upgraded FSD to the test. Usually, it would take me no less than twenty-two jumps to reach Ay Indi from the Deciat system. So, I decided I would return to Ay Indi to see how many jumps it would take to get back. I have all my assets back at Farkas Dock anyway. I plotted a route on my navigational panel and lifted off. To my amazement, this time, it only took me fourteen jumps to get back. You haven't the slightest idea how happy that makes me. Perhaps I'm amazed by the smallest things but I'm as happy as can be.
Now, to address my financial issues. I have accepted quite a number of bounty jobs from Ay Indi Limited. It's a big payoff if I can get it done. I told Russell about the jobs and he seems pretty optimistic about them. I don't like the idea of having to bounty hunt for money but it's the best I can do for now. It's profitable and will give me more experience in combat. I could use the experience. Mr.x is planning to take us all out to guardian space, but not only that, he mentioned that we would be Thargoid hunting as well. I've heard many things about the supposedly insectoid creatures. Corrosive weaponry and whatnot.
I'll be spending the next few days taking on what jobs I can to acquire the money I need to sustain my ship and my crew. Seeing as we're going to be dealing with Thargoids, I'm pretty sure I'll have to buy a new ship and outfit it for that specific purpose. That's going to take time and money as well. Most of my bounty targets seem to be in the Nanabohzo system. I guess that's where I'll hunker down for now. There's a lot to do and not a lot of time to do it. I have to keep in mind that I still need the encoded data for my FSD upgrade. One step at a time I guess. Earn credits, get the data, upgrade my FSD module then outfit a new ship for Thargoid hunting. Seems like the best course of action.
I was wondering if everyone at home is safe and sound. I have not heard from them since I last left. But that's to be expected. I would not want them to get in trouble for trying to contact someone the colony banished. I miss my parents and my friends. There's not a day that goes by that I don't think of them. I know it's probably best not to think about the whys and what-ifs. I just can't help it though. I'm so homesick. I hope I'll be able to return one day.
