If I had wanted to spend all morning waiting for a woman, I’d have gotten married to one.

I was sitting in the cockpit of the- what had Marra named it?- the Maasai, feet up on the console, sipping a cup of coffee and generally being bored.

Of course, as far as folks around here are concerned, you’re hitched as surely as Mom and Dad back on the homestead.

It was unusual for me to stay cooped up in a ship while being docked onboard a station, but Marra and I had agreed that it would be for the best. Thus, I had been able to stretch out on my bunk and sleep for as long as I wanted. And take a long, luxurious shower. And have a lazy cup of coffee in the commander’s chair. She hadn’t mentioned how long she would be gone- only having an anxious look on her face as she strode away from the docking bay the night prior. Now, as I swept my eyes around the docking bay, the first feelings of worry began to set in.

What if something’s happened? It ain’t like she’s set us down at the most hospitable of places.
