Profits from Prophets, Part 5

Well, she’s a hell of a lot more chipper than Kyndi was, that’s for damn sure.

Illiana and I had agree to meet outside Kyndi’s ship at 0800 hours station time. I had made sure to open the entryway door at 0745- only to see the golden-haired simpath standing in front of it. She favored me with a courteous smile and bowed slightly.

“Good morning, commander.”

I sipped my- Kyndi’s- coffee and stepped aside, taking her small travel bag and stowing it in the pilot’s cabin. Illiana followed me, frowning as she surveyed the single-bunked cabin.

“Only one bed?”

I looked over my shoulder as I shut the locker. “‘Fraid so, darlin’. Don’t worry. I’ll catch my z’s forward in the bridge.”

One blonde eyebrow lifted. “Old fashioned gallantry isn’t necessary with me, commander.”

I took off my jacket and hung it up in the locker. “That’s what makes it gallant, darlin’.”
