"Yeah, I saw it. Something about a job and a spelling error?"
"Yep! Some faction called "Brutas One" in an unremarkable backwater system. Not even a proper station there, just a few outposts. They got ahold of Oakster lookin' for guns on their side of a civil war, and he's there workin' out the details with them. Doggo's already on his way, and I've put the word out to Kalous."
"Mercenary work?"
"Ehhhh, kind of? They're less looking for hired guns and more looking to form a long-term partnership."
"Gaz... you know how I feel about getting tied down in some faction's ambitions. The last time we did this dance, it was nothing but politics, paperwork, and BS. I'm a merc for a reason."
"Look, they're an independent co-op of system locals who are stuck under the boot of a negligent faction. I've had a look at the place, and there's folks breaking their backs just to cough up most of what little they've got to a government that doesn't give a rat's arse about them."
"There are a million factions like that across the bubble, Gaz."
"Oh I s'pose you're used to seeing it, being a Fed and all."
"Low [expletive deleted] blow, man."
"Tell me I'm wrong."
"<sigh>... Be honest. Do you think this is the right job to take?"
"Yeah, I do. I feel the same way you do about stickin' my nose in someone else's business, but Oak's in the right here. These people are starving, they've got no voice in how their system's being run, and they need help to change that. It's your choice if you wanna get stuck in long term, but what they need right now is what you're good at. You'll be getting a paycheck for the right reasons for once. Besides, it'll be fun."
"Alright, alright. I'm in. I'll give Kimber the orders to prep the Legacy to jump over to Brutas. Should be there in less than half an hour once we've received clearance to jump. We restocked our supply of Kongaa by the way, you should swing by once we're in system."
"About bloody time! How is my favorite bartender these days?"
"Anastasia's as sharp-tongued as she's ever been. I think she's glad we've reopened the bar, though."
"Grand. Tell her to have a pint ready for me when you get here, eh?"
