Preparing for the trip

It feels like an age.I'm not sure how long I've been sitting in the Carrier Bar, looking down on the tightly packed docking bays, but the empties strewn across my table suggest that it's been a few hours now.
In the course of those hours I've watched as Cutter after Cutter smoothly glided in and landed, those beautiful sleek lines shimmering in the heated exhaust fumes as drones hurried to unload each tonne of Tritium before they boosted away again to reload. It's sure going to cost a lot.
The 'waiter', an old 3302 server droid, approached and left another drink bulb. Tonight's drinks would also cost a lot, I had no doubt, but the Oxy pills could soon remove any intoxication when the time came to depart. So in that way, I could also consider the alcohol a total waste of money. Funny how no matter how things changed, they always stayed the same.
In the distance through the screen to my left the bright yellow light of Akba Atacab's primary star blazed, grand plumes of plasma looking no larger than a finger at this range swept out.
To my right, around 200km away, the shape of Jones City was still visible as it rotated in the night sky around the first planet. And every ten minutes or so, the bright flash as another Cutter left to make it's short journey with valuable cargo to here.
The sudden siren brings me rapidly back to my senses. 15 minutes and we're off.
Trapezium Sector AF-Z c12 is our first stop. It's a sense of trepidation I feel as I spring from my table and sprint to the lift back to the hangar decks.
Tomorrow is another day. And I don't want Firefly to let the Squad down, even in her appearance.
