Hunting for Colonia Fun

Been spending a lot of time on station at Colonia Hub, so long that I'm wondering if An Lacht Siuil might be getting rusty just sitting in the dock. I mean... I know it isn't, there isn't enough condensation in this place to break a sweat on a glass of water... My point is it's been a while since I've had a solid target in space to go after.

So far the colony is quiet, there's no job listings at either landing pad and there aren't enough deep space trouble-makers to leave anyone stranded in deadspace looking for a lift. Salvage doesn't exactly bode well in belts either. Aside from people holding up miners, this town is silent. Thankfully I'm not exactly strapped for cash. Jaques' people paid out really well for that exploration data a while back so I'm looking at enough cash to rebuild the Siuil from scratch at least a hundred times with no problem.

While I've got the cash I figured I'd give some real people food a try, see what people eat when they aren't confined to a 3-by-9 glass box hurtling through space at 2,000 times the speed of light. Turns out it's either gross or alcoholic.

First up The Chubby Eagle, glorified food chain filled with "snail porridge" and locusts... who in their right mind eats here? Seriously look at this:

Utterly horrific. Black listing Irukama and Karsuki in my GalMap for the foreseeable future.

Next up, Strange Brew. coffee shop, off-shoot beer, and soy cakes.. The name tells you what you can expect here. Really the stuff I find dripping out of cargo containers might be more appealing.

Finally I managed to get a bite at a random noodle cart, something that goes into the gut and doesn't come shooting back out. This stuff was absolutely delicious! Needless to say, like most small miracles, attempting to find the noodle cart the next day was completely impossible. It moved on to another part of Jaques' Station and of course was never registered. Thank you magic noodle cart, wherever you are.

To pass the time I sit around on the ship with old shows and games. This week is more Oddworld and Invader Zim. When the oldies get boring or I feel like making a couple bucks, I've been playing the Arena simulator on base. The Federal Fighter has been treating me well, and I tend to come out pretty close to first every time (though I think the lack of players is partially to blame (real pilots fighting real pirates and all that). That kind of play doesn't seem to suit me much though, nothing to find, take pictures of, or even collect. Then again half the time the place is empty, and I sit with nothing more than a "searching for match" window.

To get over the boredom setting in I looked into some requests on the CCN, turns out someone is looking for a specific set of planets in a single system, and are offering Livery items in return (something my credits can't get me). With the search ending October 1st, I figured I'd go fishing and see what I find.

One ELW
One WW
One Planet with an Icy Ring

Can't be that hard right?

After about 40 systems and 4 hours of flying I didn't actually find a system meeting those three requirements. However, I did find a couple of interesting planets.

First a pretty normal ammonia world, something about its clouds grabbed my attention. EOL PROU TS-W b17-7 2

Second, we have a Crimson Gas Giant, with rings. EOL PROU PX-T d3-194

"Never tell me the odds..."

The outer edge of its rings are moving at an insanely high speed. Was a really bad idea to exit super cruise there, but thankfully I didn't attempt to fly through them.

And finally, from the same system, a water world that made me think it might be an ELW.

P.S. I'd go out and tackle the muggers in the belts, but a couple of days ago I got into a bit of a scrape with local security over lawful use of force and I don't much want to rehash those events.
