Catching up on Transcription

04 Jan 2019S. O'Brien
Despite popular belief I didn't give up and go back to a life of ramen and cheap booze somewhere near Sol. I've been spending so much time dealing with station politics and rescue work that I didn't take a moment to transcribe any journals. I'll skip the mundane life portions I've kept, and just update the flight logs to get back on track.

Progress - DIAGUANDRI 27 APR 3304 1:04
There we go! Traded some materials for more databanks. Shits been really hitting the fan with the Thargoids being just a couple hundred lightyears from Sol so I took a shortcut. Just like that I have a 3 week contract to explore and decypher Guardian Ruins. A quick stop home at Daedalus to pack, refit for distance travel, and clean up then it's off to the Rigor Sector, home of the Guardians.

Of course, the moment I go to launch I receive a notice that I'm up for promotion with the Federal Navy, an opportunity I can't just pass up on my plans for a Federal Corvette. Map data really does the trick doesn't it? A quick trip to Tau Ceti couldn't hurt I suppose, not like the Thargoids will up and leave by then. After a couple hours "Warrant Officer O'Brien" is off to SYNUEFE XO-P C22-17.

Sounds beautiful.

Green to go

Back into the black I go, away from civilization to see what I can see. Contact soon.

I always write these things like I'm writing home to Mom. More information than any normal person needs, and way more sentimentality than the random pilot is going to show me before an interdiction. I suppose it's more for my benefit than anyone else's but it is something I've noticed.

First Guardian site on the list is on

SYNUEFE XO-P C22-17 C1
I have a few listed systems from previous expeditions out here (Thank you Canonn), but after getting the feel for the place I'll be doing some more open exploration. These sites are huge though! Bigger than most outposts we make. I see at least 5 major structures I'll have to look at before decyphering anything. I'll likely camp here for a few days just to take a look around.
Planet: Rocky, 0.25G, high metal content
Class L Dwarf star, more than 44 bodies
The system itself is resource rich, a good reason to make an outpost. I can't gain any insight, though, at this locations purpose. Only armored walls and artifacts remain so not much to go on. Based on all the data and the type of objects left behind, it seems like a standard colony.

After a few hours searching for all the required artifacts, I checked my notes for the combinations needed for the decryption of each obelisk. By the end of the day I have technological, historical, cultural, and language data to read though and send back to Ram Tah. Plenty of reading for the trip around the system scanning everything. Once I get this Nav screen working again, I'll settle on a planet to get some shut eye.

Good evening An Lacht Siuil, productive day of cleaning and repairing the Scarab behind us, plus some Zelda II (1987) progress before taking off from this snowball. There's a surprising amount of dust that builds up in wheel wells, even on an ice rock. Flight suit on, beer and snacks at the ready. ZR-H D11-67 here we come!

Looking back, it seems I either had no photos of all of this or the computer ate them and never filed them along with the logs. All those lost moments...

Lost in deadspace, 15 occupied escape pods... I had to dump three relics to rescue them. Thankfully they're on ice so they will make it to the end of the trip.

A red rocky world, binary, with three sites and a structure. First I've landed at is the Y (Gamma) variant. A lot to scan. Going to mark findings to clear logs.

Here I put a bunch of scribbles to notate which archives I'd pulled from all the sites. It was a mess and didn't even end up helping. Anyone else doing this, just keep a list of what you NEED and check off what you've found. Works so much better.

The next two sites were nearly on top of one another, practically connected. If the Beta site is a settlement outpost, the Alpha may be covered in what looks like landing pads and subterranean tunnels.

A wing of Commanders working the same expedition met me on the Alpha site when I'd rebooted my ship computer (I'd been having hud troubles since I entered the system). The other Commanders ran off without so much as a word... guess they're a bit skiddish out here in the emptiness.

After finishing my scans I moved on to HIP 39768 A14 F. Landed on what looks like a pad, and calling it a night.

Of course this got logged properly... I swear Guardian ruins do something to computers...

Almost everything here is scanning notes. While interesting as data goes, doesn't make for good log material. Extremely boring to look at on paper.

SYNUEFE CE-R C21-6 C 1- 29 APR 3304 22:05
Finally done, but it appears my notes were ineffective. I missed a log somewhere and have no way to determine which, so only 100 of 101 codexes to turn in. Time to buckyball it back. Still over 100 million in credits for the run, so not too bad.

Apparently pirates watch outgoing log messages. One of the bastards was waiting on the edge of the bubble, supposedly aware of my cargo. He was thankfully bad at interdiction. Better luck next time, Greg!

Officially hit Elite in Exploration! Thanks for the tips Ram Tah!

That's everything from the trip to the Guardian ruins back in April. Everything through to the new year was jumbled up with work and ship burning so there's nothing to catch up on there. Happy 3305 everyone!
-S.

P.S. Looks like I was wrong! they never got filed by system for some reason and ended up just time stamped. Time for a bunch of pictures!
I believe this is the Gamma site, of course that's based on nothing but a time stamp so do what you will with that info.

The wreckage of the ship I found in deadspace

The snowball I set down on for a night. The SRV really took a beating there.

My 3304submission to "AspX in front of things!" These are the Alpha and Beta sites I found close to each other.

Definitely SYNUEFE TP-F B44-0 CD 1 and 2 by the description in my journal.
