Excerpts from Commander S. O’Brien’s personal post action report

So I get to McAuley Silo, and find out this place is a Federal Facility, plain and simple this is internal squabbling... or something quite possibly idiotic. Place is owned by some industrial corp and patrolled by Federal Navy ships, two Viper Mk3s constantly switching patrols and a docked corvette.

I’m not going to trash Federation ships and kill friendly pilots because some local faction arguments get out of hand, but a jobs gotta get done, and if I don’t do it they’ll send someone who will do it their way. I swing by powered down and wouldn’t you know a trio of Dangerous pilots and a full station won’t fall for that one at all. 400 CR fine right off the bat.

So I land on a ridge about 8km away and wait for the patrol to swap out again. Drop the SRV out on remote, and auto pilot the ship back into orbit. Wouldn’t you know it though, Mel was right. My plan was to just drive this thing straight through a bunch of guns, read the data and either blow up or run like hell.

So here’s what happened, unbelievable as it is. The Silo starts raising hell at me the moment I cross the property line. I pass right in front of a turret, maybe 200 meters off my left (I’m an idiot, I know), and the speakers are just blaring “Intruder on the premises” over and over. I gun the throttle forward, and just speed directly for the marker, only to realize it’s on top of a 5 story building. There’s a reason these Scarabs have jump jets though.

I put four in the engines and just hold down the jets. Someone in their security team drops the ball as I fly through the air and slam wheels down into a light pole and not a single turret is shooting me. Couple seconds later I’m wheels down and the security team finally wakes up and starts shooting me yelling about how I’m intruding at a Federal Facility and will be met with lethal force. Like I’m not aware of that? Anyways. They have a huge blind spot in coverage by the Comm Tower. I sat there messing with my turret controls to get a good line without a single shot on me. Soon as I’m done, what do I do? Same thing in reverse of course.

I jumped right off that building and gunned it between the defense turrets. Skimmers shooting at me, Viper trying to figure out where the hell I am, and a condor from the Corvette skimming at my tail - I hoofed it 10 km away before they lost me... I didn’t fire a shot! I got back in An Lacht Siuil and dodged the returning Viper for a bit and got away. Probably my best heist yet, 10/10 for sure.

Excerpts from McAuley Silo Incident Recording
[22:34:33]

Martin: We’ve got a nosey looking Asp here.

Dekker: Flag it if it passes in, I don’t wanna deal with any paperwork this week.

Martin: It’s an allied commander...

Dekker: Seriously, James, if I spend even three minutes writing something up because you thought a Fed-Commander was suspicious again, I’m burning your bunk.

[22:45:16]
Dekker: See? Gone, easy as that. You’re filing the trespass fine.

Martin: They did four fly-bys... powered down... You can’t-

Dekker: I did, file it.

[22:47:05]
Martin: There’s an SRV headed for the Comm Tower.

Dekker: James I swear.

Martin: It’s in the air now.

Dekker: What do you mean-

Martin: Headed right for the tower.

Dekker: They can’t be that stupid.

Martin: Right into the lamp. Wow... They jumped it all the way to the bridge.

Dekker: So shoot them! James, what are you waiting for?

Martin: Paperwork Harry, paperwork.

Dekker: Where did they go?

Martin: Remember when I put in a request for a Comm Tower turret?

Dekker: You’re kidding.

Martin: Doesn’t matter now, they’re already off the roof, headed Northwest.

Dekker: Skimmers, Vipers, we’ve got an SRV making for the Northwest. Suspected theft of Comms data. Someone blow it the hell up!

Martin: Huh, they don’t have their lights on. Pretty dark out there.

Dekker: Don’t you dare lose them.

Martin: Annnnnd...

Viper 1: This is Viper 1, no sign of the target.

Corvette: No sign from here either.

Dekker: Find the Asp, it’s gotta be coming back.

[22:53:48]
Viper 2: Criminal!

Martin: Think Jackson spotted them. He said the thing again.

Viper 2: Dammit! Target’s gone, low wake.

Martin: I’ll get the pad, gonna be at least four minutes to write this one up.
