Getting Paid Beyond All Expectations!

Cubeo III to me, is now like some kind of place that's always blowing my mind.Earlier today, when arriving in-system for a courier job, I received a message from Mr. Vadamee, requesting me to meet him at his office in Cubeo III. I duly headed planetside after finishing the job at Medupe City.
Arriving at his manor, I still couldn't believe at the size of it. It could easily fit a whole station's crew in it. Even by planetary standards, Mr Vadamee's home was huge. Mr Miller appeared at the entrance, welcomed me in, and guided me to where Mr. Vadamee was.
Mr Vadamee looked well enough. If you didn't know it, you wouldn't have guessed that he had just suffered a horrible personal tragedy.
He invited me to sit, and explained the reason for the meeting: He wanted to finally make payment for my services in the rescue operation. He apologised for making me wait. I was just relieved that it'd be made. It was an awkward thing for me, and I didn't want to be crass in asking to get paid for an operation that involved my paymaster's personal loss.
There would be a change, according to him, due to what happened.
I tried to hide my disappointment then. It probably wasn't going to be half; it's not like you lost half the goods and get only paid for the remaining half. Losing a daughter probably carried a bigger penalty in the compensation, I thought.
Mr Vadamee then surprised me by saying that since I got involved in a battle, I was due more than what he originally had planned, and I was free to name any reward of my choosing.
I was so taken aback I choked on my own saliva at that point and started coughing? Anything? ANYTHING?
I thought about my immediate plans of upgrading my ship. I suggested a Hauler.
Mr Vadamee didn't look impressed. I guess I was aiming too low. I amended the suggestion; a slightly bigger ship, maybe?
A holographical listing of ships appeared as Mr Vadamee went through the inventory of ships at his disposal. One caught my eye; a blocky looking ship I recognised as a popular cargo carrier: The Lakon Spaceways Type-6.
I hesitatingly pointed it out. Mr Vadamee didn't even bat an eyelid and offered the ship to me, along with the configuration of my choice, with Mr Miller assisting.
I felt bad, somehow, but Mr Vadamee wasn't done yet. He then offered a "small" cottage on the manor's grounds with "only" five bedrooms that he wasn't using, and I'd be free to occupy it if I so choose.
For the second time that day, I was taken by surprise. I nearly started another coughing fit. For a moment Mr Vadamee thought his offer wasn't good enough, and I had to explain for many from my background, the idea of having an adobe with FIVE rooms is just not a thing for us.
Mr Vadamee then proceeds to completely blow my mind by offering the place to my family, and getting the necessary permits done to have them be released and relocated from Gehry Port. Could he do that? He then mentions something about being a former ambassador, which I did not find back when I tried to do background search on him. Who was Mr Vadamee, really?
Mr. Miller came in to pick me up and direct me to my new ship as I said thank you and good bye to Mr Vadamee. I left the manor with all kinds of emotions. Even now I'm not sure what to write. Happy, excited, quivering in anticipation.
I'm shown to my new ship. It's a gleaming hunk of a box. I know there are quite a few pilots who don't think too highly of it, but to me, it's like another new chapter in just a few short months. Once again, I'm asking myself, what now?
This concludes Aylin's arc in the roleplay she did for this particular storyline with the fine people at Prismatic Imperium.
