To Bribe or not to bribe

In this treacherous universe, I've tried to make my own way, following not-so-tread paths. I like my independence, I distrust any... ALL superpowers. But humans are social animals, and I can only make my living on a society.So, what's my point? My bussiness and believes often lead me to break some rules, which annoys factions and galactic powers. Then I have to choose an ancient method to realign their wills: to bribe them. But by bribing them I'm contributing to their cause.
Aren't contradictions what make us human?
