Timeline Part 1 – New Pilot Survival

It’s very often, in these days of demanding times, that you get to be given something shiny and new.Then you’re expected to find a way to survive with very little understanding of just how large an expanse is our galaxy. So it happened with me a few months ago when I was given a pilot’s license.
With the license came a Sidewinder and a bag of pennies - and not much of anything else to be honest. Sure, there was a map of the stars, a talking computer and a pulse laser, but was there much else?
Before deciding to join up, I’d been rather insular and mostly turned away from banners, boards and school when I’d been asked “Would You Like To Know More?”, so I suppose it was mostly my fault that there was not much else. But now I started to actually listen to people when there were mumblings on Starports about “Bloody Feds”, “Fargoids”, Galactic Powers - and some place called Colonia.
“And just what on earth is Tritium,” I thought.
Starting off with little money, information and general awareness, you do get drawn into making money fairly quickly. And WOW, does it REALLY draw you in.
It’s been 6 months since I started on my space journey and I can’t recall what ship came after my sidewinder, but I do know what my first goal was.
I wanted a Federal Corvette.
