Lost Wine

Tiberius Captain’s Log - 6th of November 3305

“She’s a damn fine looking ship,” says the anaconda as he launches a volley of missiles and obliterates the newly repaired hull plating. “A damn shame.”

It was supposed to be a quiet flight to the outer rim. I’d set a course for KP Tauri and got myself a batch of fine Martian Brew Coffee while in witchspace on the last jump. (In a zero-g safe mug, no worries) and hurried over to the captain’s chair just as the Tiberius lurched into the system.

It was, to be honest, an average, dull day. No bounty hunting, just running errands for a friend. Despite having removed all but a little bit of cargo space from the ship to fit more shield cell banks, I had enough to transport 50 tons of Lavian wine. And not the cheap knockoff bullshit from the rim. Real, pristine, Lavian wine. How my friend had managed to get this much of it lost this far out was beyond me. Anyways, I set the Tiberius down and had everything in order. I was going to get paid decent for my services, too. And it shouldn’t have been an issue. As far as my friend was concerned, this was the safest way to get it over. A Krait Mk2 (a popular smuggling ship, no less,) armed to the teeth and with a trustworthy captain, should’ve been no big deal. But not after we’d had the misfortune of coming across commander Loega972. I barely exited the no fire zone before a plasma accelerator shot zipped across the ship’s bow. I promptly received comms.

That’s when he said what I began this log with. “Fine ship,” and then, “damn shame.” Next thing I know, shields are being torn to shreds and the armour so getting torn up. I immediately knew it was an anaconda. No other ship could chew through her hull like an anaconda could.

Barely made it out of there, not sure if we’re being followed, but we still have most of the wine safely in the cargo hold. A few dozen batches of it got smashed in the chaos, and more got sucked into space when the cargo hatch got blasted open.

But we survived. The ship survived.

On an unrelated note, still no sign of Keane.
