Tiberius Captain’s Log - 16th of November 3305Mitra Estate, Farack
Guess luck has finally caught up with me. All these engineering upgrades the Tiberius has gotten have done nothing but turn the ship into the fine-working machine it’s supposed to be. But that comes at a cost. Maintenance costs are skyrocketing, and with these expensive modules comes a hefty rebuy cost. No matter how much I didn’t want to admit it, what Exalted said was right. I was broke.
Well, not anymore.
Just before leaving Upaniklis, I came across a commander named ShaMa, and he spent the whole day accompanying me and helping me figure out how to get money. By most people’s standards, I was far from broke. I had over 11 million credits. But running a ship like this is not cheap. So this guy taught me how to mine. Led me up to Farack, got me started with mining equipment, and so far the last day or so I’ve been mining away, and I’ve got to say, it’s rather peaceful. But that’s not important. These void opals, as they’re called, brought in a staggering 80 million credits today alone. Talk about regaining losses.
One system I’ve been mining in, worth noting, had an absolutely stunning ringed Earth-like.
So for the past day or so, the Tiberius has been fitted with mining equipment. It’s always fun to see the reactions of Pirates that attack me, expecting a docile mining vessel, then finding a heavily armed combat vessel with state-of-the-art weaponry aimed at them once they begin to make demands. That is, a combat vessel with some mining equipment.
Still trying to make enough mining trips to get Selene Jeane’s attention. It’s proving to be slow work, as I need at least 500 tons while I’ve only done around 150 so far.
In other news, I’ve changed up the name plate on the exterior of the ship. Painted it on myself, gave the name some boldness and added a nice little stylised eagle icon above the name. Also added a small inscription beside the aft entrance bulkhead door, ‘The Tiberius, survived the rings of Upaniklis, against all odds. Toughest damn Krait MkII in the Galaxy.’
Planning to head back to the ice mines of Farack 5 soon. Heard of a new Guardian site, too. Maybe I could try getting these shields upgraded.
