Have not played Elite in awhile

I had not played Elite since May. I thought it would be a good idea to play in solo mode to get the hang of things again. Glad I did as it took a while to get used to all the changes, I am glad I did, took awhile to get used to the modifications to the UI. Six months was the second longest gap in playing Elite. The longest was between Summer 1985 and late 2020. In 1985, I finished school went went off the university. When I graduated in 1989, I spent most of my new found wealth on booze and women, the rest I wasted.
Normally, when I play Elite instead of grind from beginning to end on one goal, I set myself a percentage target for goal then move on to something else. I decided to grind my Federation rank doing a bit of trading, not because I am a fan of the Federation, because I like collecting planet permits.
I have moved onto grinding my combat rank, once I reach Dangerous will grind my Empire rank. I am currently a Duke, bit higher than a piddling Ensign.
