Report on the loss of the SCG Dauntless

The SCG Dauntless was lost on attempting to land on the fourth planet of the system EL-Y d203 in the Eagle Sector on March 27 at approximately 21:12. Based on recovered log data and testimony of her chief engineer it has been determined that the crash was caused by the sudden failure of the forward pitch thrusters while attempting to set down on a planets surface to allow repairs to be made as the thrusters were providing faulty reading to the shipboard monitoring equipment. Unfortunately due to the damage caused by the crash it is impossible to determine the actual state of the thrusters at the time though ship logs indicate they were functional at -3 seconds before impact after which no further data had been saved to non-volatile storage in the black box.All hands survived the crash though all sustained various injuries, with the chief engineer and science officers having to retire early due to the extent of their wounds.
