The wars fizzle out, my friends leave for safety and sanctuary or are heading head first into danger, my home is safe for now.
12 hours. That’s almost exactly how long it’ll stay safe for.
This is our doomsday clock moment, midnight is upon us and though we are prepared, nobody can foresee the effect of the coming of Taranis and the other ‘Stargoids’ close behind but it will absolutely change the face of our little portion of the galaxy forever.
I once again, as I have done many times, stand on the bridge of the Blackstar looking out into space but this time I feel very little. There’s a comfort in knowing all you can do is wait for the sun to rise on a new galaxy, so to speak.
I’ve said my goodbyes and shared drinks and jollity with the brave CMDRs that I fought the war in Aditjana alongside me, I suppose this is an ‘End of the World’ party for some, can’t blame them for wanting some small dose of joy before we brace the oncoming storm.
I’ve decided to stay in Itzamnets, I’d rather die fighting there knowing I’ve helped my people than go anywhere else. A few agree and are also holding the fort with a bulwark of AX ships.
I pray to whatever intergalactic deity that’s listening that it’s enough.
I post one last memo onto the Blackstar’s internal comms system;
“Rest easy, for tomorrow will be hard for all of us. But at this moment, we are at peace. Take a moment to relish this time, for we may not see the likes of it again for a while now. I’ll be there with you all come what may.” -CMDR Kalous
I walk to my quarters and I savour these last fleeting moments of blissful nothing.
