Aegis Reformation Remains Controversial

News of a possible reformation of the Aegis Anti-Xeno organisation remains controversial among House Salus’ population.Princess Aisling Duval recently convinced the Emperor to divert resources to a possible reformation of the Anti Xeno organisation “Aegis”. The Empire’s contribution would be coordinated by the princess, and she would also be the Empire’s envoy should the controversial organisation be reformed.
This news was received in a positive light among many of House Salus’ population, who see it as a positive step between reestablishing combined operations against the Thargoid threat with the other super powers. Cliens Jacques Monet, former House Salus liaison to Aegis had the following to say:
“A great step in the right direction, and I thank the princess for her initiative in this matter. During its heyday Aegis was a force the Thargoids learned to fear. Although much of the organisation's experience and knowledge has been lost since it was disbanded, we won’t start from scratch either. I volunteer to join a reformed Aegis, and I call upon any Aegis veterans among the Empire to dust off your Kraits and Chieftains and head out to the fight once more.”
CMDR Hekateh, head of the squadron Salus Invicta, did that share this positive conviction for Aegis:
“I agree with Hadrian: the current course of isolationism has served the Empire well. The Imperial Navy does an excellent job at protecting Imperial systems, and with the help of the Imperial Xeno Defence that organises Imperial commanders into a formidable fighting force we have not only been driving the Xeno’s out of the Empire, but also lead an excellent search & rescue operation for those affected by the Thargoid threat.”
The commander's isolationist stance was recently called into question. Anonymous sources claimed that Salus Invicta had formed a secret research agreement with the independent corporation “Astra Praeterita” related to the hyper-diction capabilities of the Thargoids. This claim could not be independently verified. The commander refused to comment on these allegations, and the enigmatic statement issued by “Astra Praeterita” did not mention any specific agreement between the two organisations:
“Astra Praeterita researches witch-space in all its facets. Ever since our formation over a year ago, we have received a steady stream of “Thargoid Interdiction Telemetry” for our research from various commanders and organisations, including the Empire. They allow us to research how the Xenos pull ships out of witch-space. But in-depth research does suggest eccentric emission signals are likely liminal beacons every wandering alien raider yearns.”
Editorial Edit: Since the initial posting of the news peace, the Arch-Duchess had made her statement on the matter:
“The Emperor’s word is final. If she sees value for the Empire in supporting a reformed Aegis, then so does House Salus. Cliens Jacques Monet was our Aegis liaison then, and his work has been exemplary. I am glad to hear that the fire in him has not yet been extinguished, and I am honoured to once more accept his bid for House Salus’ ambassador for a reformed Aegis.”
