That was faster than I thought, easier too.I jumped to Jambojai with little more than a Nav Beacon location and the hopes I could find Michael Miller, but I guess arrogance was his fatal flaw. He interdicted me out of supercruise and tried to hail me but the second I knew it was him, I opened fire.
It's a little different from the training. Getting shot at isn't something new but it still sucks. I opened fire with my pulse lasers but his shield was tanking every hit as he tried to maneuver behind me. It took all my concentration to keep him on my nose, I'm lucky my guns are gimballed. After a minute that felt like 5 his shields went down and he hailed me again. This time I answered. Smug little prick didn't beg for his life or ask why I'd come, he just tried to buy his way out. Offered me double the contract to let him go, but that was another mistake. I reminded him of his savagery and greed and took pleasure in the fear on his face as I opened fire with my multi-cannon. Transmission cut out immediately and after a few seconds his ship went up as his FSD exploded.
I returned to Dutton and cashed in the bounty. Turns out he also had a kill warrant for another 66k credits. All told I made 249k creds from this mess after I restocked my ship. I took half of it, 125k credits, and gave it to Anna and Kathryn. Money won't heal their pain, but it can ease their suffering. After a lot of weeping and refusal, I convinced them to keep the money and headed back to my ship. I spent around 78k creds upgrading my ship and have 46k leftover after room and board.
Anna and Kathryn aren't the only ones suffering in the universe, and Michael wasn't the only criminal. There are more I can save, more I can bring down if I can only get to them. I dragged my finger through a jar of white paint and made a tally mark on the side of my ship. It may not have a name yet, and I imagine I'll need a better one soon, but I want these righteous kills known.
From now on, I'm a Bounty Hunter.
Doc out.
