Entry 8 - Colonia

I made it to Colonia! After my squadron decided to make a group trip of it, I left for Colonia this past week, and spent the hours hopping neutron stars to cross the long distance. While it was a convenient way to cover some ground at speed, it was useful to learn that it's not how I want to make my way across the galaxy to Beagle Point and back. It's simply too fiddly, and requires too much going back and forth to the galaxy map to set a new course after every neutron jump. Plus, with fewer jumps, there are fewer opportunities to explore.
This time around, I was mainly shooting to make it to Colonia, and wasn't worried too much about exploration and photography. But here are some shots I took from the journey.
After a long trip, I arrived at Colonia, exhausted. I got some rest at the first station I found, and then set about making nice with all of the Colonial Engineers. So far, I've been able to butter-up Marsha Hicks, Petra Olmanova, and Etienne Dorn; the latter helping out with the last bit of engineering on the Galaxy Song. The final range of the Song is now in excess of 73Ly. It feels good.
I've spent some time catching up with my squadron mates, and we're planning a group expedition to the so called "Death Planet." It seems like careful planning is in order.
Which is convenient, because it seems like all I've been doing for the past few weeks has been "careful planning."
I will update this log if and when we make it back alive.
In other news, I've pretty much decided that when I leave Colonia, I will be heading straight for Beagle Point, and not for Sagittarius A*, as originally planned. After considering what the journey will look like, and the prospect of having to return from Beagle Point, I figured it would be good to have something to look forward to. If I arrived at Beagle Point having already visited Sag-A*, then I think I would lose significant motivation and focus on the return trip. Of course, it remains to be seen if this is a monumental mistake or not. Only time will tell.
Well... Time, and this log, I guess.
