Cmdr's Log, 06July22-02: A Detour

In an effort to find a system that may have stations, I opened my galaxy map. And after fruitlessly tinkering with my map and route settings and scanning the better half of this side of the galaxy, I realized I'm terrible at independent navigation and decided to soldier on with the tedium of my plan. However, there was a light to be found. After nearly a dozen more jumps, I decided I should open the logbook to document what I was doing as I did it. Upon opening it, I found that a valiant Cmdr had, on my previous entry, informed me there was a station in the Snake Sector. I had just left that sector and so found it to be an apt suggestion for me to head to it.
Nevermind that it's 10 jumps back the way I came. And that it means braving an outbreak in the system. The possibility of having the option to scan planets when jumping becomes too terribly mind numbing is just too much to ignore. If I hope to make it to SagA despite my impulsiveness and general lack of any real ambitious follow-through with grand ideas such as this, I must find a way to defeat the monotony.
Also, I've started using EDSM's galactic mapping tool thingy. I don't know why. It just gives me waypoints to use to plot routes on my way, but maybe it'll make things easier and each leg of the trip a little less overwhelming.
