Upgrading Control Interfaces
06 Aug 2022Final Asgard
Today I spent a lot of time in my ship, but not a lot of time in space. Instead of flying, we spent the day changing out the lights in the ship for ones with different colors, trying out all kinds of various UI color schemes. There is still more to be tested here, but I did find some more that intrigue me.I also spent the day installing new control panels to make flying the ship easier. One being a Stream Deck panel, and also a Game Glass touch screen. Now to go test it. We're flying back home to Ohm City to pick up the Twiggy to make another attempt at Core Mining.
==========
We could have made a little more money doing trade between home and where we have the mining ship parked, but sometimes you just need a break from a particular ship. As nice as the Python is, it's fun to fly other ships in the fleet. Since we have a new mining ship and I don't plan on doing any laser mining anytime soon, I repurposed FA-04, The Danaenae, to be a personal shuttle. The Dolphin class ships are so nice to fly, especially after spending several million to upgrade her.
==========
Mining went well! I did ruin a few asteroids, and went a long stretch between some of the core asteroids, but I managed to crack several of them open. I think I'm getting the hang of how this works. Now I just need to fly around to the different systems in the area to find good prices for the minerals I picked up. I've heard that Void Opals should be able to go for about 1.4 million each, but the best price I was able to find using various databases was 490k.
Overall, though, we made about 40 Million Credits from doing way too many hours of mining. Not bad, and it's quite different than trading, which is a nice break sometime.
In future plans, I think I have enough to buy the Anaconda, but... I really don't know what I want to do with it. The 400t of cargo will be nice, but as it's limited to only Large landing pads, it doesn't really bring in much more than FA-06a Twiggy does. Maybe outfit it as an exploration ship, but I haven't learned engineering yet so I can't get the benefit from it that it is capable of.
Tomorrow the family plans on doing more of the Road to Riches exploration. We don't want to go too far from the system because we need to head out to HIP 22460 this week to see what all is going to happen with the wave weapon against the alien invasion. I'm not sure we can help with that, but it should be a fun light show at the very least.
After that, we will plan our long exploration journey.
