I Was There... But I Wish I Wasn't

I was there when Salvation fired the Proteus Wave weapon. Things... did not go well. Either someone sabotaged the weapons, or the Thargoids tricked us.I don't even remember leaving the Bright Sentinel, but somehow I did. The whole experience was a blur. The Bright Sentinel was destroyed after losing all power. The Thargoids either were really affected by the weapon at the beginning, before it backfired on us, or they were intentionally fooling us. The monsters destroyed everything. Nobody was safe. HIP 22460 is now completely under Thargoid control, and they've gone rabid.
There is no mercy for anyone caught in the system. They hunt you down like a pack of rabid wild dogs chasing prey.
And our best equipment, the new Guardian FSD Booster that I worked so hard to get recently, well somehow the radiation they flooded the entire system with completely melts Guardian tech. I heard stories of others in the system, who were using Guardian power plants. Poor fools. They didn't stand a chance.
Needless to say, I did my best to get out of there as soon as I could. But it wasn't easy. They shut down my ship completely. After a reboot they made quick work of my shields. I never even saw the things that attacked me. I just know that I almost died. FA-05a, Grace Upon Grace, was almost lost. I managed to jump out of the system with 16% hull remaining. Even making it that far was a pain. The Nav Computer calculated the route assuming I had the Guardian FSD Booster still, which of course meant that I couldn't actually jump since that module was destroyed. I need to learn how to just target a nearby star and jump. I would have been out of there a lot faster if I didn't have to go through the Galaxy Map.
Well, what now?
Commander Kunkali requested some help a ways away from home, so I bought a new ship, a fighter. FA-08, the Beaver Tooth. (I may be way too interested in the Timberborn game during my down time at the moment...). This will be my first time flying a Fer-de-Lance. I have it fully kitted out for combat, minus the engineering. Unfortunately, its FSD range is awful. It would have taken way too long to make the 200 Ly journey out to Commander Kunkali. So instead, I outfitted Grace with a few weak weapons. That 60 Ly jump range is amazing...
I did manage to take out one pirate who was wanted while Kunkali scanned some distress beacons. Grace really isn't meant for combat... But she got the job done. I'm having the Beaver Tooth transported out here for me, so tomorrow we can do some proper combat. Until then, I'm in desperate need of sleep. This whole Proteus Wave thing kept me from getting any good sleep.
