Oh, Gravity. Thou Art A Heartless Bitch

Uh-oh.
This... is not good.
Yeah.
That's... bad.
There's no way in hell that's a good sign.
So, how did I get here?
In a word, gravity.
And maybe a little carelessness, if I'm honest.
Yeah, again. I know.
I've been rushing just a little too much. I know that's my problem. I've got too far to go, and too much to do on the way, in too little time.
So, I forget to set the brake before a jump. Or I don't pay enough attention while I'm scooping. Or I get a little too frisky with a planet during landing.
Let's sum up the incident report, shall we?
Emergency FSD drops due to gravity well proximity, at high supercruise speeds: 17
- 12 Neutron Stars - On arrival.
- 1 Black Hole - On arrival.
- 4 M-Class Stars - While scooping.
The lovely thing about the Asp Explorer's cockpit canopy, being placed at the very front of the ship, is that it offers a fantastic view of your surroundings - the likes of which you just can't get in any other ship.
The bad thing about the Asp Explorer's cockpit canopy, being placed at the very front of the ship, is that it's the first thing to take damage from head-on collisions. And so, when I've been a little stupid, my view ends up like this.
Bad. Definitely bad.
Ship health report, mission-critical systems and structures only:
- Power Plant - 86%
- Fuel Scoop - 85%
- Life Support - 85%
- Frame Shift Drive - 83%
- Sensors - 82%
- Thrusters - 81%
- Cockpit Canopy - 73%
- Hull - 44%
I'd say it's time to slow down, but I've actually been going pretty slow as it is. Trying to follow the neutron fields - which are thinning at this point - and scanning anything of value in the systems along my path. I even diverted course to run through a few dozen black holes I'd marked on the run to Colonia, which I hadn't gotten a chance to hit during that trip.
So, a trip that I could maybe have done in less than a week if I was in a real hurry is looking to take about twice that long. But rushing is somehow still what's killing me.
I've still got nearly a half-dozen kylies to go. And gradually less and less ship to do it with.
Time to break out the duct tape and bubble gum.
