The Empire Embraces Isolationism

Resources and finances allocated to external suppliers will be redirected internally, to corporations of Imperial origin. Our scientists and manufacturers will provide the means to shield our territory against Thargoid invasion.”
Emperor Arissa Lavigny-Duval has declared the Empire’s support of Aegis and Salvation’s gambit to have been disastrous missteps. After the tragic loss of the INV Audacious Dream, INV Illustrious Fortune and INV Paramount in the Battle of HIP 22460 the Empire has been forced to reconsider its anti-xeno collaboration with the other superpowers. Did Achenar need to spend so much treasure to reach this conclusion? To spill so much blood? Victor Dangerstar, the current leader of the vaunted Nova Navy thinks not:
Nearly four years ago Duke Kaeso Mordanticus tried to warn our people of Aegis’ inability to combat the xeno threat. He called for the Empire to turn its attention inward: to develop the strength it needed to defend its people free of the other powers' schemes and the superweapons of madmen. For his foresight he was brutally murdered without trial. All who agreed with his ‘radical views’ were persecuted. We were exiled, imprisoned, put to the sword... That was our reward for prematurely adopting current Imperial policy.
