Ashford Expedition // Launch Port: Wilson Port, Tewanta system.Destination: COL 285 Sector QH-X B 16-7 // 34 scheduled jumps // TOD: 0434
DEPATURE ENTRY
Departed Wilson Station at 0424 hours, in the Kaels Ashford XC-013, my Krait MK II with 34 planned jumps to start. I'm not taking long jumps, as I want to maximize any potential finds on this first expedition.
Today I founded The Expedition Corps, with the goal of exploring what lies beyond the known. We started out of Wilson Port in the Tewanta System. I think something good can come from this because something else has to be out there and while we all want to know, I want to find it. I won't deny I'd like to have my name associated with one discovery and say that I did something. But I'm truly not doing this just to see my name in the stars. Maybe it'll help somehow.
I'm preparing to set out from Wilson Port in the Tewanta system, and while I haven't heard of any conflicts in the star cluster I'm making a point to get out of the area before the Thargoids make a potential move towards this area. I'm sure some people will frown on the fact that I'm setting out only days after the beginning of the Thargoid invasion, and I'm fully aware that there may not be a bubble to come back to. A horde of people are headed to Colonia and I almost thought about it myself, but I feel I need to do this, to see what is out there. If I'm going to die, let it be on my own terms. Hopefully, I can share whatever I find out there with everyone, whatever or whomever that may be.
My first stop is going to be COL 285 Sector QH-X B 16-7. I'll be honest there isn't a specific reason I chose this system. I just decided the second star to the left and straight on till morning. I feel like I've heard that somewhere before, so don't give me credit for it. Once I arrive we'll see where I go from there. I do wish I had a team with me, and I'm nervous. I'll be outside the range of the Fuel Rats, civilization, and basically, everything we know. But you've got to start somewhere. I'll be on my own.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 02123308 - 0452 hours
While logging the second system in my journey, with some 32 bodies to account for, I was attacked by a GotchaAlcatraZ. Fortunately, I was able to maneuver out of his interdiction and escape to the edge of the system and complete my survey. While these bodies weren't undiscovered, the additional data on them will come in handy. Even the most basic of information is welcomed by the Universal Cartographer. Setting course for the next system.
My FSS seemed to be experiencing an issue, and wouldn't lock onto a focused signal. After some time it seemed to resolve itself. Hopefully, the gremlin found the airlock. Also, note that I've picked up the remaining "rouge signal sources" that we now know are the Thargoid's invasion force. Fortunately, I'm heading away from them.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 02123308 - 0532 hours
I found a planet, COL 285 SECTOR AY-V B17-1 3, that while discovered by one Godsrighthand, appears to be unmapped. Setting course, and bringing the surface scanner systems online. I found another unmapped planet, COL 265 SECTOR AY-V B17-1 6. I've completed the survey of the COL 285 SECTOR AY-V B17-1 system. Two planets were previously unmapped. I'll have to wait till I find a universal cartographer to confirm this, but here's hoping.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 03123308 - 0613 hours
Two known planets, that were unmapped per my records. Probes deployed to COL 285 SECTOR UR-X B16-3 6 A & B.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 03123308 - 0652 hours
COL 285 SECTOR SR-X B16-2 system. Planet C 3 has logged, but unmapped. Setting course, 130K Ls out. Upon further surveying, I also found that C 1, C5, C 6 were logged, but unmapped.
ARRIVAL LOG // 03123308 - 1950 hours
I've arrived in the COL 285 SECTOR QH-X B16-7 system. Unfortunately, there's not much here, except for a red dwarf and two brown dwarf stars. I'm going to scoop up some fuel from the main star of this system, then set course for COL 359 SECTOR CC-L D8-74. I've got 138 jumps to go. Maybe I can find something special on my way. I really want to make one discovery, just one thing that not only gets my name in the log but maybe even adds to the scientific community. Well, maybe I'll crack open some rations first.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 03123308 - 2137 hours
I've made some adjustments to my course, to get me out to COL 359 SECTOR CC-L D8-74 faster. I'm about a dozen jumps in currently. I've managed to get it down from 128 jumps, roughly, to about 55. The idea is to get out of discovered space quicker. While I'm picking up data on some discovered worlds it's not quite what I'm looking for.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOG // 04123308 - 0217 hours
I've decided to cut the extended leg of the expedition short, due to an opportunity I heard about through external channels. I can't say much at this time what that is, but I think it's not only what I need, but will be the right move for the squadron. Once I arrive back in known space, I'll prep the Klaes Ashford for the journey and make plans for setting up a proper base of operation for The Expedition Corps.
