Captain's logbook, date 29 of November 3308

Still not used to this whole writing a biography thing, so I haven't updated for a while.Where do I start...
The big issue right now are of course the things dubbed 'Stargoids'. A direct consequence of Azimuth's stupidity. Of course, Salvation took the easy way out to death and is now exempt from dealing with the consequences of his actions...
From what everyone says, it seems these 8 anomalies are bound for Sol.
My whole family is there, and as such, I took steps to temporarily relocate them to a different sector, just to be safe.
That's where things got complicated.
I figured I'd take them to a remote system friendly to the Federation. There used to be one such system, one I had discovered by pure chance while searching for a place to refuel my ship in one of my earliest runs.
It wasn't much to look at - no starport in it, rather poor in both production and consumption. But the name of the system struck the historian vein in me - named after the legend of the first Emperor of Japan, an old Earth nation - and... and I don't know why exactly, but it was sufficient to make me want to help them develop.
Only so much one person can do to help however, but we were making progress. We had decided that they couldn't reach the goal of having a flagship for their navy on their own, and I'd agreed to assist in this venture.
5 billion credits is not something you can just whip out of nowhere though. Several months of hard work passed, and a lot of things happened since.
Whilst procuring supplies for sale at a profit, I even came across a movement dedicated to rebuilding Aegis, the organization that once was in charge of developing means of defense against the Thargoids. It seemed the right idea to me as opposed to continue to bet on Azimuth, so I joined up too.
At any rate, due to all this, I still hadn't acquired the credits required. Still, I paid a visit to that system, hoping they could take my family in.
Only to find it on fire, under attack by the Alliance, intent on crushing any and all Federation-leaning parties and members.
Now, I know the Federation isn't perfect, and that as such, it elicits this kind of resentful sentiment from quite a number of people.
But it's home.
So, rather than leave my parents there, I instead came back with more passengers, fleeing from the war-torn system as its fate was already determined.
I admit I felt a pang in my heart there and then. Perhaps I had expected to see it thrive someday, perhaps I had expected that its name had significance and it would lead to a change for the future.
It was to be a lesson - grow no attachments, for one day it may all be gone.
Instead, I carried these passengers and safely delivered them to Hosuetta. Perhaps another relocation will be required, but as the 'Stargoids' all seem to come from different directions save from the inner galactic core, this place seems safe. For now.
It turned out to be a good thing - I hear Taranis has stopped and is now actively seeking control of nearby systems. Guess we can expect the others to do the same.
With the passengers safely off-loaded, and with a clear mind, I now return to Aegis to assist in the war.
Never thought I'd be involved in one, yet here I am. But our opponent isn't anyone we can bargain, plead or negotiate with. This war will be different from anything we've experienced as a species.
As a side benefit, the Pilots' Federation is paying handsomely for downed Thargoids.
Perhaps, the carrier idea need not be scrapped. A mobile home is starting to sound like a really good idea right about now...
