It's been a whole month since my last log. A lot of things have happened.

The Thargoid invasion is in full swing. We're trying - desperately - to hold them back, even as they come at us with a new kind of vessel we have zero understanding of. Once referred to as 'Stargoids', the name for the anomalies is now 'Maelstroms'.
We thought they'd be the motherships referred to in old logs, but these seem very different from what was described. So far, attempts to dive into the caustic cloud that surrounds them leads only to a ship's hull, and especially Guardian modules, to be corroded extremely quickly.
Whatever happened at HIP 22460 that made Guardian technology become like butter to a hot knife, these ships - if they even are such a thing - carry that feature.

As for me... I've had to fall back for a time. I fought in several desperate battles, piloted a rescue ship and evacuated many wounded, transported goods to assist systems involved in the war.
But unfortunately, there's nothing I can do against my own creaking morale, and had to back away for a bit to receive further medical assistance.

I have nightmares pretty much all the time. The pills the doc prescribed helps to get a full night's sleep, but they also make me drowsy during wake time, so I try not to rely on them too much.
Want to know what's the funny thing? Despite all the horrors I've seen, all the destruction and mayhem caused by the Thargoids, what truly irks me about them is... the noises they make.

I know none of it is quite real, that all sound I hear out there in space is just the ship's computer simulating sound based on radio chatter and sensor readings it picks up. According to regulation, it helps pilot maintain their bearings.
I know all that, and yet... but then, in that case, why do they sound so disturbing? What is the computer picking up that it can only translate it into those abominable honking noises?

And thus, I hear those things in my dreams constantly now, making me wake and check my surroundings just to make sure I'm not aboard Kongou.
I verified the possibility of removing that module from the ship, but apparently it's forbidden by law because of the aforementioned aid in keeping your bearings. Same as the COVAS, even if more often that not it's just an annoyance.

Frustrating, to say the least.

But, I can't stay here like this. Not while there are 'goids out there wiping out whole systems.
I have to get back out there.
Do you like it?
